Welcome to InStep – Chiropodist & Podiatrist In Rutland
Richard Harris, DPodM, MChS, is a fully qualified chiropodist and podiatrist in Rutland, and is on the Health Care Professions Council Register.
He graduated from Sussex School of Chiropody in 1987, after completing a three year full time diploma in Podiatric Medicine. By the age of 25, he had been appointed Deputy District Chiropodist for the Isle of Wight Health Authority with a responsibility for the area’s Specialist Diabetes Care Centre, and serving on the Wessex Endocrine and Diabetes Group, formulating policies on Podiatric Care for Diabetics.
He returned to Leicester in 1993, working for the NHS, and at the same time setting up his own private practice in chiropody and podiatry in Rutland. He also established a footwear business that he and his wife, Julie, still own.
His private practice rapidly became successful, but was taking up most of his time, so he sold the business, and he and his family went to live in France, which had been a long-held dream. He built up a practice among the ex-pat community, but, after some years, felt that the time was right to return to Rutland, and opened InStep in John Street in Oakham.
There is a great demand for chiropody and podiatry in Rutland, and Richard’s practice covers the whole local area. Many of Richard’s patients are elderly, so he is happy to undertake home visits to help patients who cannot easily get out and about. In fact, he spends every Monday and Tuesday carrying out home visits. His surgery in John Street is open for appointments from 9.30 am to 5.00 pm Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and he also opens on one Saturday every month.
In addition to all that, Richard is happy to offer late appointments to people who have to work all day, and are unable to get to the clinic during his normal hours for chiropody and podiatry in Rutland.
In order to remain on the Health Care Professions Council it is required that all members undertake around 30 hours of CPD (Continued Professional Development) every year, and in common with all members, Richard ensures that he takes the time to do this. CPD involves refreshing skills and knowledge, keeping abreast of any new developments in the field, and learning any new techniques that evolve, so that he can be certain to offer only the finest and most up to date treatment in chiropody and podiatry in Rutland.
Richard believes that honesty is the best policy. To this end, he states that if a patient ever attends his clinic with a condition that he is not 100% sure about, he will try to refer the patient on to another practitioner. This might be the patients’ G.P., an osteopath, or a physiotherapist for instance. Of course, with Richard’s many years of experience and training, this would be extremely rare, but he always puts his patient’s best interests first.

The Strive range offers all of the support that a patient might require, but at the same time manages to look classy and stylish, rather than the old-fashioned look of other models available.
